What is humanitarian aid?
Humanitarian aid is a form of solidarity or charity, usually aimed at poor people affected by disasters or wars, aimed at meeting various needs (hunger, health, disaster reconstruction, education, child protection, water supply and communication networks, etc.). There is often a distinction between immediate and permanent assistance.
Humanitarian assistance can take many forms (donations, sending essential supplies and equipment, sending personnel to respond on the ground) and from many sources. Among them, we have associations, humanitarian NGOs (also known as charities), national authorities, political authorities, public and private companies, and public international organizations, especially those based in the United Nations, the European Union, etc.
Humanitarian aid is a field of activity that covers an increasingly wide range of occupations. Humanitarian aid is no longer limited to medical care but is open to various fields such as education, professional training, economics, law, humanities, logistics, agronomy, and sustainable development.
These eligibility requirements apply in particular to United Nations organizations that want to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015.
Sustainable development
What is sustainable development?
Sustainable development is a concept of public interest.
Here is the definition the World Commission on Environment and Development came up with in the 1987 Brundtland Report:
“This development satisfies the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Inherent in this concept are two concepts: the notion of ‘needs’, especially the basic needs of the most vulnerable, should be given the highest priority, as well as the concept of the limitations of our technological state and our social organization. The ability to impose on the environment to meet the needs of the present and the future.
Sustainable development is part of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) set by all UN Member States, including.
